Oh Deer

Corny title, I know. Steve downloaded pictures last night and this one stood out to be one of the best. The deer were very jumpy when you tried to pet them but Isla was persistent and finally was able to pet one that didn't run away.

Isla's birthday is quickly approaching. I never set out to make crowns for Isla every birthday party, it just happened. Her 1st party was vintage themed and I wanted to create a hat for her that looked like a party hat from the 1960's. I had nothing to go on, just my imagination. I'm not crazy about it, should have done a cone hat but whatever, can't go back. On her 2nd birthday, I decided to make one just hours before her party, as it was a last minute decision. Her theme was Sesame and red hearts so I used a red heart that were used as decorations to make her simple crown. Her 3rd birthday came around and at that point, decided I will make one every year until one of us no longer exists.

Last night I had a dream that it was her Sweet Sixteen party. We were in a different house and I had a super long table all set with candles and she peeked in the window and got excited. Also in my dream, I had pictures of her at every one of her birthday parties in front of her birthday cake. When I woke up I thought about the dream more and thought what a great idea to make a banner of the cake pictures and on the other side, the crown picture and have them hang in mid-air so they kind of spin. Yes, that's right, I'm already thinking about her Sweet Sixteen!!

More Photoshopping

So I came across this great tutorial. He shows a much easier way to 'burn' the edges of a photograph, easier than my way. I also learned the background of cross color. I think the above picture looks great, but with a little added extras, it looks so much better. I love the results.

This picture need a lot of work: I had to get the surrounding people out, did a little cross color and vignette (burn the edges) and I kept Steve's hand in, even though it looks a little creepy, because he was splashing her. It just made sense to leave him in. When Steve downloads our photos, he has them at such high resolution, that when I crop them, they still look crisp. I think the results on this one are amazing.

Lego Party

The day was a blur for me. It was very hot and humid and I didn't stop moving all day long.
Justin before the party in his Lego shirt all ready to party.
This was the only good shot of them together. He LOVES that action figure he's holding. Can you tell by the expression on his face?
I made this six out of Lego scrapbook paper, it took longer than you would think but he loved it.
Decorating was pretty easy this year, there aren't any Lego theme party supplies so I just used the standard Lego colors and printed some Lego signs off the computer and was done.

We had a huge turnout, there were even more kids not pictured that didn't want to stop playing.

Games were played. Steve failed to take any pictures of the wheel so here's what it looks like:

I didn't make the cake. I ordered it, undecorated and made the Lego font letters and used new minifigures to finish it off.
Justin beaming at the cake. I was pleased with the way it turned out.

The prize table.
The frenzy to cash in their tickets.

Our wonderful guests (I appreciate every one of them, pictured or not):
Bella, Lainy, Chavela, Star
Ashlee and her BF Luke
Kat playing the the B'loonees I gave her.
Julia & Isla
Tristan & Julia
Noah & Julia
Theresa & Joanna
It was a fun party (at least that's what everyone told me). Justin had a great day, brought all his new Lego sets inside and patiently waited for Steve to build them. He got 7 sets of Legos and when I asked him what he wanted to spend his b-day money on, he said 'more Legos'. Um, I think he has enough for now.
