Happy Halloween

It ended up being a cold and rainy night but the kids were up to going to a few houses. Justin is a Transformer (Bumblebee) and Isla is a black cat. Her costume was a little plain so I made the skirt but she would only wear it for the photo. The evening wasn't a let down because we did a lot to celebrate beforehand. Hope you all had a fun one!

Autumn

It's so pretty, isn't it? It's the season when everything dies yet it's so beautiful.

All Around The House...

Cookie recipe from Martha Stewart Everyday.
These Halloween softies, patterns found at Wee Wonderfuls.
Simple felt leaf garland, idea stolen from Elsie at A Beautiful Mess. I made a ton of them for the living room. Picture didn't come out so great so this is one from the kitchen.
Vintage clip art taken from this website. There's a ton of free downloads over there.
A peek out my back window.
Lantern idea from Martha Stewart.
Bats also from Martha Stewart.
Again, Martha Stewart. These were after dinner surprises for the kids. They LOVED them, got the biggest kickout out of the underground worms.

Yes, we've been very busy celebrating Halloween. Can't wait for the actual night to bring the kids out. We went to the pumpkin patch today, will post pictures soon. I love this time of year!

The Circus is the Place for you!

That's a line from the book Put Me In the Zoo, which I've read about 152 times. So we went to the circus and it was so much fun. The kids had grins on their faces when we first arrived that were priceless. They were so excited!

Melt my heart! Isla ran to get into this shot, didn't even ask her to and the way Justin is pulling her in...I can't handle the cute.
Horse heaven.
This is probably the only picture I took of the show that's not blurry. We all freaked when the elephants came out, they are our favorite.

Fly Creek

We love this place and go every year. We feed the ducks, watch the cider press, walk around the gift shop and sample yummy food, have lunch and enjoy the fall colors and weather. This year's weather was perfect to enjoy our yearly tradition.

The Latest

We had quite the September. We began being super busy with school, soccer and dance. Then Justin became sick with the flu. Then I totaled my car (everyone is doing fine). Then Isla became sick with the flu. School and lessons were missed. Our new routine disrupted. September was a huge mess. Today being October 1st, we start the new month with a positive outlook. I'm looking forward to "family fall fun", Steve bringing home apples from the orchard to make pies, Halloween costumes, all of it!

Note: the picture was taken on the way back from taking Isla to school.
